Cost visibility is the foundation of every finance control. If you cannot see the spend, you cannot budget it, optimize it, or explain it. This guide covers the dashboards and cadence that make AI costs board-ready.

A useful CFO dashboard has two views: summary and drill-down. The summary view shows trend, variance, and the top three drivers. The drill-down lets you explore by team, feature, model, and environment.

Keep it simple. A dashboard with fifty charts is a dashboard no one uses. Start with six to eight metrics and add only when someone asks a question you cannot answer.

Weekly: review the largest movers with engineering and product. Monthly: reconcile to the invoice and update forecasts. Quarterly: present the board with trend, efficiency, and the pipeline of optimization work.
